Living in the AI Era: Embracing the Future:

Dr. Sureshkumar Madhusudhanan

Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands as one of the most remarkable technological
advancements of our time, reshaping industries and redefining the way we live and
work. As the Chairman and Managing Director of Seagull International, a leading
Global Human Resource company, I have had the privilege to observe first-hand the
profound impact of AI on jobs and the global workforce. In this discourse, I aim to
offer insights into the future of employment in the AI era and delineate strategies to
harness its potential effectively.

The ascent of AI is both exhilarating and disquieting. While it presents myriad
opportunities, concerns loom large regarding its potential to supplant human roles.
According to the World Economic Forum, by 2025, AI and automation are projected
to create 75 million jobs while displacing 133 million. However, prudent policy
frameworks and strategic investments can recalibrate this trajectory, potentially
yielding a net increase of 12 million jobs. This underscores the imperative of adeptly
managing the ramifications of AI on the labour landscape.

AI is already revolutionizing conventional vocations by automating rote tasks,
thereby affording humans the bandwidth to engage in more intricate and innovative
endeavours. Within the recruitment sphere, AI has enabled us to streamline
candidate selection processes, augmenting efficiency and precision. Moreover, AI
facilitates the discernment of optimal candidates through the analysis of their
competencies and expertise, culminating in judicious hiring decisions. Furthermore,
AI empowers us to prognosticate forthcoming job trends and skill requisites,
facilitating proactive workforce training initiatives.

Foremost among the challenges engendered by AI is the apprehension of job
obsolescence. However, the verity is that AI will not supplant all vocations outright;
rather, it will metamorphose the landscape and contours of work. To navigate the AI
epoch successfully, individuals must embrace a culture of continuous upskilling and
reskilling to remain pertinent in the labour market. "The only way to stay ahead of AI
is to embrace it."

Another pivotal facet of leveraging AI efficaciously is its ethical utilization. Given its
ubiquitous integration into various facets of our existence, it is imperative to ensure
its deployment sans bias or discrimination. Organizations must institute ethical
frameworks governing AI implementation to ensure equitable benefits accrue to all

stakeholders. As torchbearers in the recruitment domain, Seagull International
avows its commitment to ethical AI utilization, championing diversity and inclusivity.

In summation, the impact of AI on employment is inexorable, necessitating a
concerted effort to maximize its potential. As we traverse towards an AI-centric
milieu, it behoves us to recognize that the paradigm shift is not about humans versus
machines, but about humans collaborating harmoniously with machines to yield
superior outcomes. The crux lies in embracing change, fostering continuous
learning, and employing AI ethically. In the words of Seth Godin, "The job of every
leader today is to build a future they are not ready for." Let us collectively endeavour
to emerge triumphant in the disruptive realm of AI.
